We had a tax refund of 5,000+ direct deposited into my account. We were able to pay one bill and order a second card for my mother before they locked us out of the account.

We called them as soon as they opened this morning and were on the phone with them for over an hour, they had us on hold for long periods of time before telling us we had to wait until we receive the second card, 5-10 business days, and then activate it so the account would be unlocked to ensure we didn't get our money stolen. I have just received a text message from NetSpend stating "Your NetSpend Card ____ has been reported stolen. It is now blocked. If you have not already done so," and so on.

I just ordered this card last night, and I got an email about an hour ago saying it was shipped out this morning and would be here in a few days. How can a card that JUST got shipped out, be reported stolen already?? I have not reported it stolen, and no one else would have access to it when it had just been shipped out. I then received a second text immediately afterwards that told me my "NetSpend card could not be delivered" and to call customer service.

My mom is currently on the phone with them but I am sure that will take hours. I am very unhappy with this company, and I am sure my mom is too considering she has been with them for so long and they are now doing this to us. We just want our money so we can pay the bills and buy food, gas, etc.

Ugh, never again. I hope we get our money.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

If they're doing all this, more than likely there was a breach somewhere. Be glad they're doing it.

Be glad that they are keeping us from paying the bills so we can get kicked out of our place or get our utilities shut off? No.

The least they could do is unlock the account so we can go take all the money out.

Then they can lock it back up, I don't care. It's pathetic and they continue to do this to everyone.

No that makes absolutely no sense to have the option of your IRS refund to be sent to a Netspend card and THEN put a lock on an account. The company is already aware that the IRS will be sending large amounts of money into people's accounts.

I should have looked into the reviews before getting my tax refund sent to Netspend. Looking at the reviews this has been going on for awhile so the company doesn't even adjust to the many complaints of their customers.

I have had netspend for 4 years now, and I have never had an issue from them. I get my tax refund every year put onto my card and everything goes completely smooth each time.

I wouldn't boycott the company over this, I know it stinks to not be able to access your funds but there has to be a reason it occurred. Just be patient and I'm sure everything will be sorted out.
