Netspend - "Gift Card" requires government issued id, no refund
I received this "gift card" and found that they wanted me to sign up for a bank account, provide social security and actually send them a copy of my government issued id.
They want enough information to steal my identity for a GIFT CARD? The service was terrible also.
I called the service person, and he almost helped me, until they wanted my government ID.
This isn't a bank account, and had I made a different decision and went across the street to the store, I could have grabbed a real amex gift card, or visa gift card. Bad decision.
I want my money back, but I will at least complain to the better business bureau. In this day and age, you need to be careful with your personal information.
Reason of review: not really a gift card..
Monetary Loss: $54.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
Netspend Cons: Poor customer service.
Location: South Jordan, Utah

Hello,
We do not provide any gift cards, however we do provide a prepaid banking service. For this reason the USA Patriot Act requires that all financial institutions verify customer identity information.
We are required to verify each customer's name, address, ID number and date of birth. If you have any questions or need assistance, please email us at social@netspend.com.
Thank you,
NetSpend
